K9 W1-P Single Dog Box for Pickup Trucks

The K9 W1-P Single Dog Box is a high-quality, bespoke single-compartment dog box designed to fit partly over either the left- or right-hand wheel arch of a pickup truck with a canopy fitted.

Every K9 W1-P is made to order to suit the individual customer’s vehicle, canopy and requirements. We do not manufacture standard stock boxes. Each dog box is built specifically for the pickup it will be fitted to, helping you make the best possible use of the available load-bed space.

By designing the lower section of the box around one of the pickup’s wheel arches, the K9 W1-P allows space above the wheel arch to be utilised rather than lost, while still leaving more of the remaining pickup bed available for other equipment, storage or working use.

Designed for dog owners who need a secure, practical and durable transport solution, the K9 W1-P provides one spacious dog compartment with an individual lockable door while retaining the flexibility to remove the complete box when full use of the pickup bed is required.

Bespoke Fit Over Your Pickup Wheel Arch

The K9 W1-P can be manufactured to suit UK pickup truck models and a wide range of canopy designs.

The box is specifically designed to fit partly over one of the rear wheel arches, with the customer able to choose either a left-hand or right-hand wheel-arch configuration depending on the layout of the vehicle and how the remaining load-bed space is to be used.

The standard box can be manufactured up to approximately 660mm wide, but can be made wider as a bespoke solution.

The depth can be manufactured to your requirements, up to approximately 1020mm as standard, while the overall height is determined by the available canopy opening.

Because every pickup and canopy installation can be different, we will work from the dimensions of your vehicle to produce a dog box suited to the available space.

Space-Efficient Single-Compartment Design

The K9 W1-P incorporates one individual dog compartment while making use of the otherwise restricted space around the pickup’s wheel arch.

The lower section of the box is shaped to accommodate the wheel arch, allowing the main compartment to extend above it and maximise the usable internal space.

This design is particularly useful for customers who only require a single dog compartment and want to retain as much of the remaining pickup bed as possible for tools, equipment, storage or general working use.

The aluminium door incorporates a stainless-steel mesh insert together with our double-point locking system. When the handle is turned, two locking points engage at the top and bottom of the door for increased strength and security.

Each door is also fitted with a full-length stainless-steel hinge and our integrated stainless-steel mesh construction, creating a strong and durable door designed for regular working and everyday use.

Integrated Stainless-Steel Door Mesh

A major strength of the K9 W1-P dog box is the way the stainless-steel door mesh is built into the door frame during manufacture.

Rather than simply being tack welded onto the outside of the finished door, the stainless-steel mesh is inserted into the aluminium door section during the welding stage, so the surrounding door construction locks the mesh securely into position.

This creates an extremely strong door assembly and prevents dogs inside the box from getting behind an exposed mesh edge and attempting to pull or peel the mesh away from the frame.

The result is a much more secure and durable construction than a surface-mounted mesh panel, making it particularly suitable for strong, active working dogs and regular professional use.

This integrated mesh construction is a key feature of our dog box doors and is used to provide additional strength, security and long-term durability.

Stainless-steel mesh integrated into the dog box door section during manufacture, locking the mesh securely into the frame rather than simply attaching it to the outer face.

Ventilation and Comfort

Ventilation is incorporated into the side and rear of the dog box as standard using stainless-steel mesh ventilation apertures.

These ventilation areas help provide airflow through the compartment while maintaining a strong and durable construction.

A 3mm internal rubber mat is also supplied as standard to provide a practical, comfortable and easy-to-clean floor surface.

Additional ventilation options may also be available depending on the size and design of the box required.

Optional Lockable Side Escape Hatches

For pickups fitted with a canopy featuring side gull-wing windows, the K9 W1-P double dog box can also be manufactured with optional lockable side escape hatches.

An escape hatch can be fitted to one side or both sides of the dog box, depending on the canopy design and your preferred access arrangement.

Each escape hatch replaces the standard side ventilation mesh panel and provides an additional access point to the relevant dog compartment through the side of the canopy.

For additional security, each escape hatch is fitted with two separate key-operated locks, helping keep the compartment securely closed when the vehicle is unattended.

A stainless-steel mesh ventilation insert is incorporated into each escape hatch, maintaining airflow through the dog compartment while still providing the additional access point.

This option can be particularly useful for working dogs and professional handlers who want secondary access to one or both dog compartments, while retaining secure ventilation and a fully lockable installation.

The side escape hatch option is only suitable for pickups fitted with a canopy that has side gull-wing opening windows and must be specified when ordering.

Durable Polypropylene Construction

The K9 W1-P is manufactured from durable polypropylene with a leather-grain-effect finish.

This material provides a strong, practical and low-maintenance construction suitable for regular use in pickup trucks and working vehicles. It is also rot and rust proof, making it particularly suited to demanding outdoor and working environments.

The lower section of the box is designed to be sealed to help contain water during cleaning, and a drainage plug is fitted to make washing out and maintaining the compartment easier.

Securing shackles are fitted to allow the box to be restrained using suitable vehicle fixing points.

Slotted side handles are also incorporated into the design to assist when handling or removing the box from the vehicle.

The final dimensions of the box can be manufactured to suit the available space in your pickup truck and canopy.

The depth and width do not have to be the maximum size. We can manufacture the box to the depth and/or width you require, allowing the design to be tailored around your dogs, your equipment and the amount of load-bed space you wish to retain.

The K9 W1-P is not an off-the-shelf dog box. Every box is manufactured to the individual customer’s specification, allowing us to take account of the pickup model, canopy design, wheel-arch position, available opening, required depth and any additional features you may require.

The box can be manufactured for installation over either the left-hand or right-hand wheel arch, making it possible to configure the vehicle around your individual storage and working requirements.
