Full product description Specification, layout & fitting information

K9 5-V Five Dog Box for Vans

The K9 5-V Five Dog Box is a high-quality five-compartment dog box designed for larger vans, providing a secure, practical and space-efficient solution for transporting up to five dogs.

The K9 5-V uses a 3+2 configuration, with three dog compartments positioned above two lower compartments. This stacked arrangement makes excellent use of the additional width and height available within larger vans while keeping the overall footprint compact.

Designed for vehicles such as the Ford Transit Custom, the K9 5-V is suitable for vans with approximately 1350mm of width between the wheel arches and has a standard depth of 1120mm.

The system is manufactured from one double dog box on the bottom and three individual single dog boxes on the top. The lower double box is fitted with a removable centre divider, giving you the flexibility to use the lower section as two individual dog compartments or one larger double-width compartment.

The three upper boxes are individually manufactured, allowing them to utilise the full internal width of the van above wheel-arch level where the vehicle dimensions allow.

Designed for Larger Vans

The K9 5-V has been developed specifically for larger vans such as the Ford Transit Custom, where the additional internal width and height can be used to create a practical five-dog transport system.

The lower section is designed around a width of approximately 1350mm between the wheel arches, with a standard overall depth of 1120mm.

Above wheel-arch level, the three individual upper dog boxes can make use of the additional internal width of the van, helping maximise the available space and provide practical compartment sizes.

The combined height of the upper and lower boxes can be manufactured to make effective use of the available space, with the overall height extending up to the height of the vehicle’s rear door opening where suitable.

As van dimensions, rear door openings and internal layouts can vary, we recommend providing your vehicle make, model and year when ordering so that we can confirm the most suitable configuration.

Practical 3+2 Stacked Design

The K9 5-V consists of one double dog box on the bottom with three individual single dog boxes positioned above, creating three upper compartments and two lower compartments.

This 3+2 layout provides secure individual spaces for up to five dogs without requiring the full length of the van to be occupied by dog boxes.

The lower double dog box incorporates a removable centre divider, allowing the lower section to be configured as either:

  • Two individual dog compartments
  • One larger double-width compartment

With the divider fitted and the three upper boxes in place, the K9 5-V provides five individual dog compartments.

This flexibility makes the K9 5-V suitable for users transporting dogs of different sizes or for situations where a larger lower compartment may occasionally be required.

Three-Piece Upper Dog Box System

One of the key features of the K9 5-V is its three-piece upper dog box arrangement.

The upper section is manufactured as three individual single dog boxes, allowing the available width above the van’s wheel arches to be utilised effectively.

During installation, the two outer upper boxes are fitted first against the sides of the van. The centre upper box is then positioned between them, helping lock the three sections securely together.

Once correctly positioned, the individual sections are fixed together to form one complete unit, creating a strong and secure five-dog box installation.

This method of construction allows the upper section to make maximum practical use of the wider internal area of vans such as the Ford Transit Custom while still allowing the individual sections to be handled during installation.

Set-Back Upper Dog Boxes

For easier access to the upper compartments, the three top dog boxes can be set back from the front of the lower box.

This creates a useful step area on top of the lower section, helping dogs climb into the upper compartments more easily and reducing the height they need to negotiate in a single movement.

The amount of set-back can be determined as part of the configuration of the dog box, taking into account the available space within the vehicle and the size of the dogs being transported.

Optional Built-In Pull-Out Jump Board

For additional assistance when loading dogs into the upper compartments, the K9 5-V can also be supplied with an optional built-in pull-out jump board.

The jump board is incorporated into the dog box installation and can be pulled out when required to provide an additional platform for dogs entering or leaving the upper boxes.

When not required, it can be stored neatly within the unit, helping maintain a practical and uncluttered load area.

The pull-out jump board is available as an optional extra.

Safe, Secure Five-Compartment Design

The K9 5-V provides five separate dog compartments when the removable lower centre divider is fitted, allowing dogs to travel individually and securely.

Each compartment has its own locking front door with our double-point locking system. When the handle is operated, two locking pins engage at the top and bottom of the door, providing a strong and secure closure.

Rear escape hatches are fitted as standard, providing an additional access point to the dog compartments from the rear of the boxes.

For customers who do not require rear access, the K9 5-V can also be manufactured without escape hatches.

Each door is also fitted with a full-length stainless-steel hinge and our integrated stainless-steel mesh construction, creating a strong and durable door designed for regular working and everyday use.

Integrated Stainless-Steel Door Mesh

A major strength of the K9 5-V dog box is the way the stainless-steel door mesh is built into the door frame during manufacture.

Rather than simply being tack welded onto the outside of the finished door, the stainless-steel mesh is inserted into the aluminium door section during the welding stage, so the surrounding door construction locks the mesh securely into position.

This creates an extremely strong door assembly and prevents dogs inside the box from getting behind an exposed mesh edge and attempting to pull or peel the mesh away from the frame.

The result is a much more secure and durable construction than a surface-mounted mesh panel, making it particularly suitable for strong, active working dogs and regular professional use.

This integrated mesh construction is a key feature of our dog box doors and is used to provide additional strength, security and long-term durability.

Stainless-steel mesh integrated into the dog box door section during manufacture, locking the mesh securely into the frame rather than simply attaching it to the outer face.

Ventilation and Comfort

Ventilation is incorporated into the dog boxes to help maintain airflow through each compartment while travelling.

Standard ventilation apertures are approximately 150mm high.

A 3mm internal rubber mat is also supplied as standard, providing a practical, comfortable and easy-to-clean floor surface for the dogs.

Durable 6mm Polypropylene Construction

The K9 5-V is manufactured from 6mm polypropylene with a leather-grain-effect finish.

This provides a strong, lightweight and low-maintenance construction suitable for regular use in working and everyday vehicles.

The boxes incorporate reinforced structural sections to provide additional strength and rigidity.

The lower sections are designed to be watertight up to the top of the door sill, helping contain water while the interior is being washed out. Drainage plugs are fitted to assist with cleaning and maintenance.

Integrated slot handles assist with handling individual box sections during installation or removal where required.

Securing shackles are also incorporated to allow the dog box system to be restrained using suitable fixing points within the vehicle.

Optional Pull-Out Jump Board

A built-in pull-out jump board can be incorporated into the K9 5-V to make access to the three upper dog compartments easier.

The board provides an intermediate platform for dogs when entering or leaving the upper boxes and can be stored neatly within the unit when not in use.

This is particularly useful for larger or heavier dogs, or for owners who want to minimise the height their dogs need to jump.

Please select the pull-out jump board option when ordering if required.

Made for Your Van

The K9 5-V has been designed to provide a strong, secure and space-efficient solution for transporting up to five dogs in a larger van.

Its 3+2 stacked configuration makes effective use of both the width and height available within vehicles such as the Ford Transit Custom. The lower double box fits within the area between the wheel arches, while the three individual upper boxes can utilise the additional internal width available higher up within the van.

The unique three-piece upper arrangement allows the two outer boxes to be positioned against the sides of the vehicle before the centre box is installed to lock the arrangement together. The complete system is then securely fixed to create one integrated dog box unit.

The removable divider in the lower box also provides additional flexibility, allowing the lower section to be changed from two individual compartments into one larger compartment when required.

The option to set the upper boxes back creates a practical step to assist dogs entering the higher compartments, while the optional built-in pull-out jump board can provide additional assistance where required.

With durable construction, secure individual compartments, effective ventilation, rear escape hatches and a range of bespoke options, the K9 5-V is designed for professional, working and everyday dog transport.

All advertised prices include VAT and fitting.

If you are unsure whether the K9 5-V is suitable for your vehicle, please contact us with your vehicle make, model and year and we will be happy to advise.
