K9 Outback 2-P Double Dog Box for Open-Back Pickup Trucks

The K9 Outback 2-P Double Dog Box is a high-quality, bespoke double-compartment dog box designed specifically for open-back pickup trucks without a canopy fitted.

Every K9 Outback 2-P is made to order to suit the individual customer’s pickup truck, dogs and requirements. We do not manufacture standard stock boxes. Each dog box is built specifically for the vehicle it will be fitted to, allowing us to make the best possible use of the available load-bed space.

Designed for dog owners who require a secure, practical and durable solution for transporting two dogs, the Outback 2-P provides two separate dog compartments with individual lockable doors, together with weather-protection features specifically suited to use on an exposed pickup bed.

Bespoke Fit for Open-Back Pickup Trucks

The K9 Outback 2-P is designed for UK pickup trucks with an open load bed and no canopy fitted.

The K9 Outback 2-P is normally manufactured to fit neatly between the pickup truck’s wheel arches, with widths of up to approximately 1140mm. Alternative dimensions can also be manufactured where required

The depth can be manufactured to suit your requirements, allowing the dog box to be tailored to the available load-bed space and the size of dogs being transported.

A typical Outback 2-P is approximately 686mm high at the front and 635mm high at the rear. This creates a gently sloping roof that helps rainwater run towards the rear of the box rather than towards the doors.

Because pickup models, load beds and customer requirements vary, every Outback 2-P is individually manufactured rather than being supplied as an off-the-shelf box.

Designed for Exposed Pickup Beds

Unlike dog boxes intended for use beneath a pickup canopy, the K9 Outback 2-P incorporates additional features to help protect the dogs and interior from the weather.

A storm peak above the front doors helps deflect rain away from the door openings, while the deep 150mm front sill provides additional protection against water entering the compartments.

The sloping roof assists with water run-off, and removable door covers are supplied for additional protection during particularly poor weather.

These features make the Outback 2-P particularly suitable for customers who need a permanent or regularly used dog box for an open-back pickup truck.

Secure Double-Compartment Design

The K9 Outback 2-P incorporates two separate dog compartments, allowing two dogs to travel individually and securely.

A removable centre divider is fitted as standard. This provides additional flexibility and allows the internal layout to be adapted when required.

Each compartment has its own aluminium door with a stainless-steel mesh insert, providing a strong and practical combination of security and ventilation.

Each door is fitted with a key-locking handle and double-point locking system. When the door is locked, the mechanism secures it at both the top and bottom for increased strength and security.

Each door is also fitted with a full-length stainless-steel hinge and our integrated stainless-steel mesh construction, creating a strong and durable door designed for regular working and everyday use.

Integrated Stainless-Steel Door Mesh

A major strength of the K9 Outback 2-P dog box is the way the stainless-steel door mesh is built into the door frame during manufacture.

Rather than simply being tack welded onto the outside of the finished door, the stainless-steel mesh is inserted into the aluminium door section during the welding stage, so the surrounding door construction locks the mesh securely into position.

This creates an extremely strong door assembly and prevents dogs inside the box from getting behind an exposed mesh edge and attempting to pull or peel the mesh away from the frame.

The result is a much more secure and durable construction than a surface-mounted mesh panel, making it particularly suitable for strong, active working dogs and regular professional use.

This integrated mesh construction is a key feature of our dog box doors and is used to provide additional strength, security and long-term durability.

Stainless-steel mesh integrated into the dog box door section during manufacture, locking the mesh securely into the frame rather than simply attaching it to the outer face.

Weather Protection

Because the Outback 2-P is designed for use without a pickup canopy, weather protection forms an important part of the design.

Standard weather-protection features include:

Durable 6mm Polypropylene Construction

The K9 Outback 2-P is manufactured from 6mm polypropylene with a leather-grain-effect finish.

This material provides a strong, durable and low-maintenance construction suitable for regular use in working pickup trucks, shooting vehicles, country vehicles and everyday dog transport.

The lower section of the dog box is designed to be watertight up to the top of the door sill, helping contain water when the box is being washed out.

A drain plug is fitted to make cleaning and maintenance easier.

A 3mm internal rubber mat is also supplied as standard, providing a practical, comfortable and easy-to-clean floor surface for the dogs.

Roof Handles and Securing Points

Grab handles are incorporated into the roof of the K9 Outback 2-P to help when positioning or removing the dog box.

Securing shackles are fitted to the sides of the box, allowing it to be restrained using suitable fixing points within the pickup bed.

This means the complete dog box can be removed when required, allowing full use of the pickup load bed when the box is not needed.
