Field 12-P Single Dog Box, Double Drawer System & Storage Tray for Double-Cab Pickups

The Field 12-P Single Dog Box & Double Drawer System is a complete dog transport and equipment storage solution designed for double-cab pickup trucks, helping make maximum use of the available load space beneath a canopy while providing secure dog accommodation and practical storage.

The system combines our full-length double drawer unit with a single-compartment dog box mounted above and a three-sided fixed storage tray alongside the dog box, creating a strong, practical and easy-to-clean installation for working dogs, professional handlers, country sports, training equipment and everyday dog transport.

The Field 12-P can be configured with either a fixed or removable dog box, depending on how you use your pickup. Maximum-width drawer options and fully bespoke configurations are also available for suitable vehicles.

Designed for Double-Cab Pickup Trucks

The Field 12-P is designed to make efficient use of the rear load area of a double-cab pickup fitted with a canopy.

The full-length drawer system extends between the wheel arches, providing secure storage beneath the dog box while making use of space that can otherwise be difficult to organise effectively.

Above the drawer system, the single dog box occupies approximately half of the available width at the tailgate opening. The remaining space is used for a three-sided fixed storage tray, providing an accessible area for equipment alongside the dog compartment.

The exact dimensions and configuration of the system depend on the available load space, wheel-arch width, canopy height and tailgate opening of the vehicle.

Double Drawer Storage System

The lower section of the Field 12-P incorporates our full-length double drawer storage system, providing two large storage drawers beneath the dog box and tray.

The drawers extend between the wheel arches to maximise the available storage space and are ideal for carrying dog training equipment, leads, clothing, tools, recovery equipment and other working accessories.

Each drawer operates using our Air Glide system, providing smooth operation without conventional greased metal drawer runners.

The Air Glide system helps reduce the problems associated with traditional runners, which can attract dirt, grit, dog hair and mud during regular use.

Each drawer liner is fitted with a lockable stainless-steel catch and includes a removable 3mm mat.

Twist-Release Removable Drawer Liners

Each drawer liner incorporates our twist-release stop system, allowing the drawer liner to remain securely retained during normal use while still being easy to remove when cleaning or maintenance is required.

During everyday operation, the stop prevents the drawer liner from being accidentally removed, even when the drawer is fully extended.

When the liner needs to be removed, simply rotate the stop through 90 degrees to release it from the main drawer unit.

The liner can then be removed completely for easier cleaning or maintenance.

Once the liner has been refitted, the stop is rotated back into position to secure the drawer again.

This provides a simple, secure and completely tool-free method of removing the drawer liners.

Integrated Side Storage Cabinets

On the standard Field 12-P drawer configuration, integrated side storage cabinets make use of otherwise unused space between the main drawer unit and the sides of the tailgate opening.

The cabinets extend forward towards the wheel arches and provide useful additional storage for smaller items that you may want to keep separate from the main drawers.

Each storage compartment is secured with a locking stainless-steel catch.

These compartments are ideal for leads, dog training equipment, tools and other smaller accessories that need to remain organised and easy to access.

Maximum-Width Double Drawer Option

Some newer double-cab pickup models provide increased width between the wheel arches, allowing us to manufacture the main drawer unit considerably wider.

On suitable vehicles, the standard double drawer and side cabinet arrangement can be replaced with a maximum-width double drawer system.

Rather than dividing the available width between the main drawers and separate side storage compartments, the additional space is incorporated into the drawers themselves to provide greater overall drawer capacity.

The installation is finished neatly to the sides of the tailgate opening, maintaining the same fully fitted appearance as the standard system.

This option is particularly useful if you prefer maximum usable drawer space rather than separate side storage compartments.

The maximum-width drawer option is £100 less than the standard system price, inclusive of VAT.

Availability depends on the make, model and available width of your pickup.

Secure Single-Compartment Dog Box

Mounted above the drawer system, the Field 12-P single dog box uses approximately half of the available width at the tailgate opening to provide one secure dog compartment.

The remaining width is used to provide practical equipment storage alongside the dog box.

The dog box is fitted with our double-point door locking system.

When the door is locked, pins engage at both the top and bottom of the door, securing it firmly in two separate positions.

Each door is also fitted with a full-length stainless-steel hinge and our integrated stainless-steel mesh construction, creating a strong and durable door designed for regular working and everyday use.

Integrated Stainless-Steel Door Mesh

A major strength of the Field 12-P dog box is the way the stainless-steel door mesh is built into the door frame during manufacture.

Rather than simply being tack welded onto the outside of the finished door, the stainless-steel mesh is inserted into the aluminium door section during the welding stage, so the surrounding door construction locks the mesh securely into position.

This creates an extremely strong door assembly and prevents dogs inside the box from getting behind an exposed mesh edge and attempting to pull or peel the mesh away from the frame.

The result is a much more secure and durable construction than a surface-mounted mesh panel, making it particularly suitable for strong, active working dogs and regular professional use.

This integrated mesh construction is a key feature of our dog box doors and is used to provide additional strength, security and long-term durability.

Stainless-steel mesh integrated into the dog box door section during manufacture, locking the mesh securely into the frame rather than simply attaching it to the outer face.

Ventilation, Comfort and Cleaning

Ventilation is incorporated into the sides and rear of the Field 12-P dog box to help maintain airflow through the compartment while travelling.

Standard ventilation slots are approximately 150mm high.

A 3mm internal rubber mat is supplied within the dog compartment, providing a practical and easy-to-clean floor surface for the dog.

The dog box also incorporates a front drainage plug, making it easier to wash out the compartment and release water after cleaning.

Together, these features are designed to make the dog compartment practical to maintain during regular working use

Optional Lockable Side Escape Hatches

For pickups fitted with a canopy featuring side gull-wing windows, the Field 12-P dog box can also be manufactured with an optional lockable side escape hatch.

The escape hatch replaces the standard side ventilation mesh panel and provides an additional access point to the dog compartment through the side of the canopy.

For additional security, each escape hatch is fitted with two separate key-operated locks, helping keep the compartment securely closed when the vehicle is unattended.

A stainless-steel mesh ventilation insert is incorporated into the escape hatch, maintaining airflow through the dog compartment while providing the additional access point.

This option can be particularly useful for working dogs and handlers who want secondary access to the dog compartment, while retaining secure ventilation and a fully lockable installation.

The side escape hatch option is only suitable for pickups fitted with a canopy that has side gull-wing opening windows and must be specified when ordering.

Three-Sided Storage Tray

Alongside the single dog box, the Field 12-P incorporates a three-sided fixed storage tray above the drawer system.

This provides a useful open storage area for equipment that needs to remain readily accessible from the rear of the pickup.

The combination of the single dog compartment, open tray and full-length drawers allows the Field 12-P to divide the available pickup load space between secure dog transport, enclosed drawer storage and accessible equipment storage within one installation.

Fixed or Removable Dog Box

The Field 12-P can be configured with either a permanently fitted or removable dog box, depending on how you use your pickup.

For customers wanting to maximise the available dog compartment space, the dog box can be manufactured to make use of the available interior height beneath the canopy.

Alternatively, the dog box can be manufactured as a removable unit while leaving the drawer system securely fitted in the vehicle.

This is particularly useful if the pickup also needs to be used for work, carrying larger equipment or other purposes when the dog box is not required.

With the removable dog box option, a three-sided full tray is fitted across the top of the drawer system beneath the dog box.

The tray can be manufactured to extend towards the sides of the vehicle for a fully fitted appearance, or it can be manufactured to match the width of the drawer system where the complete drawer installation may also need to be removed.

The removable dog box option must be specified when ordering.

Because the dog box needs to pass through the canopy opening when being removed, its overall height normally needs to be slightly reduced compared with a permanently fitted dog box designed to use the maximum internal canopy height.

Maximum-Width Drawer Configuration

Where the vehicle provides sufficient space between the wheel arches, the Field 12-P can be manufactured with a wider main drawer unit.

This replaces the standard arrangement of narrower drawers and separate side storage cabinets with a maximum-width double drawer system.

The option provides increased drawer capacity while retaining a neat, fully fitted finish around the tailgate opening.

The maximum-width configuration is particularly suitable for customers who carry larger quantities of equipment in the drawers and would prefer additional main drawer space rather than separate smaller storage compartments.

The maximum-width drawer option reduces the standard system price by £100 including VAT.

Removable Dog Box Option

For customers who need their pickup to perform more than one role, the Field 12-P can be manufactured with a removable dog box.

The drawer system remains securely installed, while the dog box can be removed when the additional load space is required for work equipment, larger items or other uses.

A three-sided tray beneath the removable dog box provides a practical finished storage surface when the dog box is removed.

The tray can either extend towards the sides of the pickup for a fully fitted installation or be manufactured to the same width as the drawer unit where removal of the complete drawer system may also be required.

This option must be specified when ordering because the dog box dimensions need to be designed around the available canopy opening as well as the internal load-space dimensions.
